The Avenue Gdańsk

What Is Tutoring?

Tutoring and its stages at The Avenue.

Tutoring

The Avenue programme uses a developmental tutoring approach.

Tutoring is a form of personalised education that focuses on each participant’s needs, strengths and potential, adapting the pace to the individual.

During one-to-one meetings with her tutor, a participant can talk about what she wants to achieve, what she would like to study, her plans after graduation, and her passions and aspirations. The tutor listens without imposing her own views, helps the participant clarify her thoughts, offers encouragement when needed and may provide a different perspective by drawing on her own experience.

Our tutors come from many professional and personal backgrounds. A tutor does not simply provide knowledge as a private tutor would, nor does she make decisions on a participant’s behalf. She offers support while the participant makes decisions about the direction of her life and may suggest exercises that help her explore different aspects of an issue.

A tutor is a friend

— someone who brings a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience. This individual support, offered in an atmosphere of mutual trust and understanding, helps participants become more effective and achieve better personal outcomes. Find out more about personalised learning at Oxford:

The programme is under the academic guidance of Dr hab. Agnieszka Kowalkowska, an expert in career development and tutoring.
